Nellie Cheng, China Development Manager

Nellie
Cheng has followed a distinguished path of public service in Canada and
the United States
for more than 25 years and has
established a track record in delivering successful projects in Asian
market. Nellie
Cheng has been actively promoting
sustainable and green buildings in North America and Asia, and involved
in many different
LEED®, Super E and Net Zero projects. In
2011, Nellie worked to promote the LEED® green
building rating system in China by
serving as Director of China Operations at the U.S. Green Building
Council. Previously,
she was the Economic Development
Director at the City of Prince Rupert in the Province of British
Columbia, Canada; and worked
with the Vancouver Economic
Development Commission, in charge of investment attraction and business
development. Nellie
Cheng also served as Senior Trade Consultant
at Canada Mortgage and Housing
Corporation (CMHC), promoting Canadian Healthy Housing and Sustainable
Communities in the China
market. Working with Chinese developers, her team implemented Canadian Super E Healthy Housing and Canadian
Sustainable Community projects in Shanghai and Beijing. Nellie Cheng has been frequently invited to present
Canadian expertise in these areas at conferences and workshops in many Chinese cities. At
CMHC, Nellie
Cheng also took the role of Project
Manager for the 2010 Winter Olympics, and was responsible for
coordinating Sustainable
and Green Building initiatives
related to the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Nellie
Cheng’s professional
engagement also includes Manager of
Greater China with the Government of British Columbia and Director at
East Asia with the
Government of Washington State. Nellie
Cheng served on the Board of World
Green Building Council for six years, for four years as Treasurer and
two years as Secretary,
and continues her services as a
member of the WorldGBC Marketing and Communications Committee and
Council Development Committee.
She is currently a member of the City of Vancouver’s Multicultural Committee. Nellie
Cheng
obtained her Masters Degree in
Communication Studies from Concordia University in Montreal, Canada and
her Executive Management
Diploma from Simon Fraser University
in Vancouver, Canada.
