Consulting Principles

For the past 13 years, David Gottfried, under the umbrella of WorldBuild, has helped over 100 organizations in developing visionary and triple-bottom-line profitable green strategies for their organizations and buildings. Many of the firm's building projects went on to become award-winning green developments.

Regenerative Ventures via its consulting arm, WorldBuild, differentiates its strategic green consulting work by adhering to the following principles:

  1. We are results, not process driven.
  2. We question everything, and try to foster an open-minded, out-of-the box creative environment.
  3. We often begin our work when others quit, or we hear "it can't be done, it's too expensive..." To us, "no" is just a frame of mind, prior to application of creativity, ingenuity and innovation -- our cornerstones for success.
  4. We dislike thick reports and other expensive and time consuming "consultant" deliverables that sit on the shelf.
  5. We love to help invent innovative programs, new systems, and regenerative products
  6. We do most of our work on our feet, in an intensive brainstorm session with the client and other critical parties.
  7. We require commitment and buy-in from the top.
  8. We often become a green ambassador for our clients.
  9. Work should be fun, and clients can become friends and partners for transformation.

Green Strategic Coaching

Regenerative Ventures prefers to assume a proactive and collaborative "coaching/advisory" role, while the client maintains the "operational" responsibility for new work generated by the engagement. As a coach, the company helps the client develop a Green Action Plan for the organization or a specific building project. The steps to developing a Green Action Plan (GAP) include:

  1. Organizational Background Understanding - we need to begin work with a data dump from the client
  2. Scope Definition with key players - it's important for everyone to be included and on the same page
  3. Organizational brainstorm (1/2 to a full day) - dynamic session facilitated by David Gottfried. The LEED Green Building Rating System is often used as a tool for our green building work, however, it is just one part of an integrative and comprehensive green strategic plan.
  4. Green Action Plan drafting (short, action oriented document that defines & guides the process)
  5. Organizational review of GAP & assignment of priorities, milestones, responsibilities, time-frames, budget
  6. GAP implementation
  7. On-going coaching of GAP and other related issues
  8. Measurement that GAP is being followed and achieving results

Consulting Relationship

  1. We provide a lump sum price for development of the Green Action Plan
  2. Thereafter, we prefer to be hired on a retainer basis, with an annual contract providing for a minimum of one day per month ongoing coaching
  3. We are pleased to collaborate with other team members, including outside consultants and design professionals
  4. We are often hired to facilitate brainstorm sessions, provide an inspirational keynote speech or open the doors to China and India and other countries with Green Building Councils.
  5. We work similar to a management consultant.
  6. We can help build a green team for the assignment, including recommending highly qualified leading outside professionals from our vast global network.
